Politics is all about looking good. No politician is going to slam NSF because the public perception is that NSF does good things. What it will take is a 1984-style revisionist history approach. Call Saxon and SIngapore constructivist, and have NSF change its tune without anyone noticing. If TERC and others want more money from the trough, they better start singing the new tune. But to advocate the pillory of those who made the mess will not get the attention of politicians. Finding a sales pitch that makes it look like they're preparing kids for the 21st century is the key. Give them some other words besides "technology" and "digital".
"If TERC and others want more money from the trough, they better start singing the new tune."
When it comes to pedagogy and money, money (and control) will win out every time. Balance is what they use to try and keep both, because who could possibly be against balance?
I'm thinking: why not 22nd century learning? The 21st century is going to be old and dead and gone before we know it. Why not get ahead of the crowd?
