Thank you Catherine. It took me a bit to figure out that the post was a link to a google search - got in at 1 am from a weekend away at a wedding so still groggy. Very illuminating. Gearing up for battle. It's funny that you would introduce me to this term at this time. Our board has an opening which one of the founders (already having served 2 terms) is trying to fill himself. I am in the process of nominating someone else (and gathering ranks around me). I've already served a 2 yr term myself or I'd throw my own hat in the ring. I really don't even want to stage a coup. I just want to open people's (in charge) eyes to the potential our kids have and determine the *best* program.
I've changed my tack a little bit. I was going to ask the PTCA to create a panel to review the math curriculum. But what makes more sense to me upon reflection (i.e. driving for 12 hours in 2 days) is asking for a permanent academic oversight committee. Then we can address the math within that context. It seems odd to me that it doesn't exist - being a "parent run" school and all. Right now the Executive Director and Curriculum Specialist are solely in charge of directing the curriculum. Another problem with that is that those two positions are currently (temporarily) held by one person - the CS is the interim ED while we search.
OK. I just wanted to thank you for the link! Cheers.
