I was in the midst of a near-death copy editing experience when my copy of Education Week arrived with this photo on the front page.
Which has inspired me to launch a brand-new kitchen table math feature: our very own caption writing contest! Just like
the one at The New Yorker!
wow - it's good to be back - looks like some of you guys put up some posts while I was hiding out with my Post It arrow flags. THANKS!
ReplyDeleteNow I can read everything at last (had to force myself to stay away just in case....)
I suppose it's no fair entering my own contest, but what the heck
ReplyDeleteMy caption comes from a teacher blog (can't remember the teacher, now, unfortunately -- I believe she teaches in NYC):
"That's 4 hours of my life I'll never get back."
"I Surrender"
ReplyDeleteI can't tell what it is the women (teachers, I take it) are holding up -- some kind of journal? A "reflection"? (one of the parts of edu grad school I find the most off-putting).
ReplyDeleteBen -- lolllll
ReplyDeleteLiz - yup, they're teachers
The teacher who made the "That's four hours of my life I'll never get back" comment had just attended some kind of required professional development workshop. iirc, it may have been a workshop on scoring the state tests in which teachers weren't allowed to ask questions
