Have I mentioned Ed has a stand-up desk?

Well, he does.

That's gotta be next on my list.

I converted my desk to a stand-up one a few months ago, and I love it. I don't have a fancy one, instead I bought a $13 set of bed risers and put them under the legs of my existing desk.

wow!

You can stand all day?

I am a telecommuter, so I stand a while, then I move away from the desk to do other things, then go back to work. I also have a tall stool (29" I think) that I can sit on when the work is demanding that I stay at the desk longer than is comfortable.

In general, I find that I move more and have fewer shoulder/wrist aches than I did when I sat down all the time at the computer.

I don't have a stand-up desk, but I do stand mostly all day (naturally). I've designed my classroom so that there are areas where I can sit when it's appropriate. I make sure that when I'm standing I'm moving - otherwise I get leg cramps. I got used to this working at waitressing jobs throughout high school, college, and then beyond in the jobs I had before teaching.

I try to create activities where my students can stand and walk as well. Sometimes this comes down to something so basic as taking a walk around the school (in good weather - a walk 'n talk is my favorite class activity), or even Simon Says. I find I am able to create enormous interest and class discussion when students are allowed to write on the white board in response to an activity as well - they're up and moving.

I really do wish my students could have stand-up desks with stools.
