Ah I remember those sorts of problems in the PSLE ... I think there's a PSLE twist on it, but I can't remember how it's like.

btw, I wouldn't call this middle school math.
Obviously it's middle school math in other countries, but not in the U.S.
I learned to do this type of problem (relearned) in....Saxon Algebra 2, I think. (It may have been Saxon Algebra 1, but I'm pretty sure it was Algebra 2, which is the book for regular-track sophomores or accelerated-track freshmen.
ok, I'm following the Premack principle, so I'm going to go work on my book before getting back to the blog.
