They do what they do.
Thinking about schools and peers and parent-child attachments....I came across one of my favorite posts .

What took you so long?
Welcome back and happy new year!
oh my gosh!
It's you!
Hi, V!
Vlorb! Well, I guess if you can do it, maybe I should consider doing something productive for a change other than cursing the edu-policy echo chamber/Conga line known as the Washington pundits.
@concerned: booze mostly
till the end of '08 or so;
after that mostly just panic
i guess. the net is a scary
"place".
@catherine: aw.
you had me at
i don't know why.
@barry:
better to light a single candle
than to curse the darkness...
but... why not *both*?
i'd curse 'em a lot more
than i do myself but then
i'd have to occasionally
*read* them. (i'm old-school.)
you're in a doctoral programs
somewhere, right?
(denouncing the system
is far more fun when they
give you an office and
computer IIRC. if you
can make it pay in actual
money you should never stop.)
okay, that's enough!
get back to work!
@all:
2010... so far *so* good...
hey. weather! whee!
No, I'm not in a doctoral program. I was taking classes at ed school at GMU, but now I've done all the coursework. I don't think I would make it as a doctoral candidate in ed school My ideas are too "old school" as you term it. I like your idea of getting a paying gig to curse the pundits. Where do I apply? I've had enough of the pro bono work.
