Mission creep

Sharon Necaise, a public school educator at West Feliciana High School, in St. Francisville, La., told FoxNews.com her experience with Common Core has been positive.

"This is the thing, [Common Core] brings a critical thinking and cognitive awareness component that will ensure our students and children are not robots," Nercaise said.

Teachers complain Common Core-linked lessons little more than scripts to read

IMHO, this quote from a complaining teacher is a strong advertisement FOR Common Core
""I'm unable to do projects anymore because we have so much other stuff to do that is based on the Common Core," she told FoxNews.com. "All the teachers at my school, all we talk about is how we don't teach anymore and we feel like robots just doing what we are told to teach and can't have any creativity for the students to enjoy themselves."

If CC means that all the projects, especially the ones the parents end up doing, are ditched, I will be a happy mommy

LOL. I wasn't aware that my child was in danger of being turned into a robot.

Whew. Dodged that bullet.

Which is a knee-jerk, robot-like edu-thought comment. Apparently, the last two decades of MathLand and Everyday Math didn't do the trick. And lo and behold, our schools will continue to use Everyday Math for Common Core. How can one have a constructive discussion about education while operating at a level of complete disbelief? I don't think it would be constructive to say something like: "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard."

I know!

Right there with you!

I was sent that article by an anti-Common Core list serve, and when I read it I pulled out that line!

HAH!!

That's never stopped me.

[pause]

OK, that was a fantasy boast.

I have never uttered the words "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

Though I'm pretty sure my nonverbals have broadcast that message loud and clear.

These days I like to sit in the front row at school board meetings working my eyebrows TO THE MAX.

I'm going to be doing the Macauley Culkin Home Alone gasp any day now.
