Hi Catherine ,

I was reading the Irvington Parents Forum yahoo group and noticed that you were at the John Hopkins talk with David Coleman and the Icahn principal. I would like to tell you that I was at the same event and found it very interesting that what was being said on the stage was so disconnected from what happens in the classroom. I felt I was attending a forum for education in another country. I can across your blog when I was researching and fighting the administration at our school for changing the math curriculum to EngageNY and letting our children who had studied with the Singapore Math curriculum basically repeat math for the year. It was a terrible year in every sense of the word and I found that trying to right something that is wrong in an institution is a tedious and difficult task. I also found that it is difficult to garner support.

I am interested in your opinions of these trends of education and I am sorry I did not get to meet you at the talk. Please continue to keep us abreast of what is happening in Irvington which is an insight to what is happening elsewhere. I can be reached at anna.dellolio@verizon.net

I get it.
Do I really have to explain why I get it?
