The Miseducation of America

I STILL haven't had a chance to read her book, but found these videos very informative!

Charlotte Thompson Iserbyt served as the head of policy at the Department of Education during the first administration of Ronald Reagan. While working there she discovered a long term strategic plan by the tax exempt foundations to transform America from a nation of rugged individualists and problem solvers to a country of servile, brainwashed minions who simply regurgitate whatever they’re told.

If one suspects she is a nut, one might find circumstantial evidence from Wikipedia:

"Iserbyt believes that the Bavarian Illuminati hid inside the Freemasons, and that the Skull and Bones Secret Society is derived from these Illuminati-degree Freemasons from Bavaria whose goals were documented in an original edition 1798 book Proofs of Conspiracy by John Robison in Iserbyt's possession that she claimed was originally owned by the first president of the United States of America, Freemason, George Washington."

She also thinks Engelmann and Direct Instruction are secret implements of William Spady's
"Outcome Based Education" movement and geared to turning children into mindless robots.

If I hadn't suspected she was a raving nutbar before, I would know it now. Many intelligent conservatives on the DI list have interacted with her (in person and elsewhere) but all reported she was not open to any information or discussion of any kind, and that her knowledge of actual DI was somewhat less than nil.

We need to beware of the "My enemy's enemy is my friend" viewpoint. Just because someone criticizes some of the same things we find wanting in public education does NOT mean the critic's views necessarily have any merit or validity.
